NCJW plays an important advocacy role in the lives of children, women and families. We educate via forums on issues for our members and the community. We track key issues on the local, state and national levels. We advocate by way of "Day on the Hill" during the Texas Legislative Session, emailing action alerts, letter-writing campaigns, and joining with coalition partners who share our interests.

NCJW Austin members work with other sections in Texas and across the country as well as with coalition partners and staff in Washington to take action on a variety of issues:

  • Well-being of women, children and families; childcare, health care reform, gun control
  • Separation of religion and state; opposition to school vouchers and support for public education
  • Women's health, reproductive choice and family planning
  • Domestic violence prevention and education
  • Children's health: access to health care coverage, immunizations, early intervention and prevention programs, and mental health services
  • Civil rights: LGBT rights, immigration, workplace rights
  • Economic justice
  • Secure Israel and work for the well being of all its people
