Although society is much more welcoming than ever before, there often remains a hesitation about sharing and how to be supportive without crossing boundaries. PFLAG (Parent and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) is an organization that started in 1972 and has helped thousands of people navigate differences in their families. We hope to have an open and interesting discussion about ways to communicate. Please join us!
PFLAG Austin is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1994. It is an approved chapter of PFLAG National, supporting Central Texas. In addition to monthly meetings and support groups, PFLAG Austin participates in several educational, fundraising, and political activism events throughout the year to help drive awareness and promote education including: school panels, PRIDE Festival, LGBTQ events, and other various community events.
“We, the parents, families and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning persons (LGBTQ), celebrate diversity and envision a society that embraces everyone, including those of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. Only with respect, dignity and equality for all will we reach our full potential as human beings, individually and collectively. PFLAG Austin welcomes the participation and support of all who share in, and hope to realize this vision.”
