**New Location** NCJW Austin hosts a luncheon on Tuesday, September 2nd at Siena Ristorante Toscana, 6203 N. Capital of Texas Highway, from 11:15am to 1:00pm (networking time, 11:15-11:45am; program starts at 11:45am).
Our guest speaker will be Nicole Golden with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a non-partisan group advocating for common sense gun laws.
Nicole Golden is a long-time Austin resident and member of the Jewish community. She and her husband have two sons who are the center of their world- Isaac, 6 and Asher, 3. Nicole worked as a social worker prior to having children and is currently a stay-at-home mom. She has always been aware of gun violence but was fairly desensitized to it until Newtown. That day was a life-changer. Devastated by the shooting of innocent children, Nicole searched on the internet for a way to become involved in gun violence prevention and found Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America through what was then just a Facebook page of other mothers who were equally as devastated. For a time, Nicole acted as the Austin Chapter Leader and participated in organizing events, meeting with legislators, and speaking to the press. Since then, the Texas Chapter of Moms Demand Action has grown to include more than 7,000 members. Nicole currently volunteers as the Membership Lead for the Texas Chapter and spends her time growing membership and engaging new members in the process of volunteering with the organization.
