NCJW Austin April Happy Hour Features Joyce Hefner and Becca McPherson of Family Eldercare Who Will Be Discussing “Aging in Place”
The National Council of Jewish Women hosts a happy hour on Thursday, April 24th at Café Express, 3418 N. Lamar Blvd. Networking time is 5:30pm, and the program starts at 6:00pm. Appetizers will be provided, and guests need only purchase their own drink or dinner if they prefer more than appetizers. Newcomers are always welcome. Guided by the vision that seniors and adults with disabilities should live in a supportive community with dignity and as much independence as possible, Family Eldercare provides essential services to seniors, adults with disabilities, and caregivers. Recognized experts in the field of aging, Family Eldercare is a non-profit that has been serving Central Texas since 1982.
Joyce Hefner is CEO and Director of Housing and Community Services. As Family Eldercare’s Chief Executive Officer, she not only overseas the day-to-day financial and general operations of the agency, but also overseas consultation and service coordination provided at Lyons Gardens, Oak Sprints Villas, Heatherwilde, and Merrilltown Apartments. Previous to her current position, Joyce oversaw Family Eldercare’s Aging in Place program for older adults living in public housing. She has a Bachelor of Social Work and a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin.
Becca McPherson is Director for Development. Becca graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies and Masters in Social Work. At Baylor, her emphasis was focused on Physical and Mental Health and Non-Profit Administration. Becca currently oversees fundraising, development, marketing, and communications at Family Eldercare. She has been active with the Association of Fundraising Professionals since 2005.
